Radio wives Lisa Oldfield and John Stanley embroiled in bitter online war By

Wednesday, January 26, 2011

Lisa Oldfield has become involved in an online slinging match with a fellow radio host's wife.

. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .

  • . Radio presenters wives spark online feud.
  • . War started by Facebook comment on presenter.
  • . Presenters deny problem between the two women.

THE wives of two of Sydney's top radio presenters have gone head-to-head in a nasty online slanging match in defence of their husbands.

The war culminated in Lisa Oldfield - wife of 2UE's David Oldfield - calling fellow 2UE presenter John Stanley's wife Elissa Milne a "c ... ".

The disagreement between the two women - who have never met - started last month when Ms Milne posted comments on her Twitter page.

After first labelling the Australian media as "illiterate", Ms Milne put Oldfield in her sights, saying he was "incompetent" and his show "shite".

"Mind you, David Oldfield has the morning shift on commercial radio, so illiteracy is a definite improvement on that," she posted.

It was then that Mrs Oldfield fired back on Facebook.

"Can someone tell me why John Stanley's wife (Elissa Milne) is such a c ... ? She keeps writing nasty crap about David on Twitter," she posted.

Mrs Oldfield didn't stop there, questioning whether Ms Milne was bitter that her husband had recently moved from the coveted breakfast shift to weekend mornings.

"Surely she doesn't blame David for John Stanley losing his job," she said.

"Everyone knows he got the bullet because he was shit."

Ms Milne got in the next shot via Twitter.

"Just found out that someone is calling me names on Facebook. How funny. I might become infamous before I become famous," she wrote.

Yesterday Mrs Oldfield admitted her choice of language was perhaps inappropriate but did not back down from its sentiment.

"I probably shouldn't have dropped the C-bomb but I am just very angry," she said.

"I don't know her, but she's written some nasty things about David."

Mrs Oldfield argued her comments were made on her private Facebook while Ms Milne's were made on a public Twitter which can be viewed by anyone.

Yesterday Ms Milne said she did not attack Oldfield's show - but rather his views on race - and his wife had taken comments made about another subject as being about him.

"I firmly believe Lisa should be allowed to say whatever she likes about me or anyone/anything else - it's her Facebook page for goodness sake," Ms Milne said.

"The only thing one can criticise about him is the questionable content of his broadcasts, and I can only imagine that David's content will continue to be oriented toward decrying ways of living foreign to him."

John Stanley said he opted out of the morning shift because of the early starts and 2UE said Mr Stanley remained a big part of the station's future plans both in his role as presenter of weekend breakfast and in other prime sessions to be announced.

While the wives may not be seeing eye-to-eye, Oldfield and Stanley yesterday denied there was a problem between them.
